The hipages Group journey started as two friends in a garage with an idea to establish themselves as the most trusted partner in the trade industry. From 2004 to today, the company has grown into the country’s largest online tradie marketplace.
“The hipages group culture and identity is epitomised by our start-up, agile and highly collaborative culture reinforced with exceptional workforce diversity,” says Jodette Cleary, chief people and culture officer. “With employees aged 22–72, 40+ nationalities and 50% of the board and executive leadership team being female, we pride ourselves on the diversity of thought that helps us to be innovative and continue to grow and thrive.”
As market leaders in their industry, hipages has developed a reputation for being a small team that delivers great things. They punch well above their weight and their size means they are big enough to have a great office, world-class technology tools and perks, but small enough that everyone can make a meaningful difference. Their culture and values encourage them to constantly challenge the status quo, innovating our product and service to make big ideas a reality.
“We put our customers at the forefront of every decision we make, ruthlessly prioritising to ensure that we are always focused and resourced to achieve,” says Cleary. “Being a data-driven company, we keep ourselves informed and utilise our findings to create value, and constantly measure our progress.”
Company founders developed their company values and DNA, which they have reinforced and ensure form the fabric of their culture. More recently their senior leadership team developed their leadership charter, which identified the top 10 behaviours they want all hipages leaders to display. In leading from the front in demonstrating these behaviours, their leaders set an example for the company, and encourage and inspire company performance.
hipages wanted to provide more value to their tradies, so they developed a product called Tradiecore that allows their customers to manage their businesses, from quoting and invoicing right through to connecting with their accounting system. This SAAS product is removing the administrative hassles many of their customers face in running their day-to-day businesses, giving them more time to do what they do best – their trade.
“When dealing with hipages Group, clients and fellow companies can expect a genuine experience,” says Cleary. “We are driven by our purpose of transforming the trades industry, building better lives for everyone.”
