The Mark Moran Group is Australia’s most awarded retirement and residential aged care group – with outstanding independent living apartments in Sydney’s Vaucluse suburb, and three aged care facilities across Greater Sydney in Vaucluse, Little Bay, and Warrawee.
“We believe that we are a place to proudly call home for our members and residents,” says Mark Moran, Co-CEO and Co-founder of the Group. “Our staff take great pride not only in our safe environment, but also in our wellness and home programs that differentiate us from other aged care providers. Our tailored holistic offerings include an array of social events, organised outings, regular celebration of diverse cultures and backgrounds, happy hours, diversional therapy, and physiotherapy, aquarobics, and, at every site, award-winning gardens, where our residents can while away the day or participate in the gardening with our expert teams. At Vaucluse, we have an art room and a man cave for the more hands-on residents.”
Mark Moran is positioned as Australia’s most celebrated boutique group of homes. This comes from the marriage of minds of the Co-CEOs and Co-founders, Evette and Mark Moran. Mark is generationally from a family dedicated to healthcare and aged care for over 60 years. His knowledge of the industry is second to none and he is active in lobbying reform for the industry. Evette’s aged care experience is tempered by her passion for wellness and her own holistic approach to life. As well as being an aesthete, she has an eye for detail in her interior and exterior designs that are created to stimulate and delight all senses. The combination of both makes the formula of Mark Moran rise above the competition.
“Mark Moran Group’s purpose is to ‘Live Younger, Longer,’ and we believe that ageing should be celebrated by our residents – this should be one of the best times of their lives,” says Mark. “From an employer perspective, we are caring and always place ourselves in the position of our stakeholders."
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Mark Moran was, and continues to be diligent in onsite daily RAT tests and providing the highest level of personal equipment to reduce the risk of contagion.
"In May 2022, the Group determined that the Federal Government award rates of pay for our aged care staff and nurses were below an acceptable standard and, at its own cost, increased hourly rates by 10% immediately, not wanting to wait for the relevant award rates to rise to a decent level," he says. "Since then, the Group has continued to pay its frontline staff above award rates. These initiatives, whilst inspired by the leadership of the Co-CEOs, are overseen by industry veteran and guru, Sally Cox, Clinical Operations Executive, and Malcolm Day, Head of People and Culture.”
The vision of the Group has not changed in its 13 years of operations. There is a healthy transparency in its business activities and its aim to increase business through acquisitions and development of sites, to which the team can apply their formula for success. Most recently, the third, purpose-built, award-winning aged-care facility was opened in Warrawee in Sydney’s North Shore in April 2022.
“Mark Moran prides itself on its excellence in programs, its standards in accommodation and cuisine, and its activities,” says Evette. “Residents, members and their families can expect to be impressed with the offering of the facilities and fellow companies can take inspiration from the unyielding standard upon which we impose ourselves. I personally believe that function and form can always come together to delight and uplift the senses. Our facilities are all testimony to this.”
