“We have now put in the hard yards to getting it right, and have learned from our mistakes. We are proud to have become a certified social trader.
“In addition to standing out with our transition to a social enterprise, we wanted to demonstrate to our clients that we do operate differently.”
DLPA has started gifting spots in its public leadership programs, which helps participants experience how they work first-hand. It has also continued to focus on business consulting, automation and HR software.
“We continued our commitment to diversity, as evidenced by our ownership and leadership in supporting women into non-traditional roles,” Cremin says. “We also have offered the chance to participate in the Women in Industry program.”
Over the next year, DLPA will continue to work to deliver excellent value to its clients. Cremin says the focus on social enterprise will continue, and the company will be looking at increased automation to support this.
DLPA will also be launching its new senior leadership program, which is highly bespoke and will be delivered in the Daintree.
“Finally, we will continue to grow and develop our team,” Cremin says. “After all, we need to ensure that we are applying what we teach in our own backyard.”

“The focus now is on differentiation and development of Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). There is documented planning on differentiation to ensure the students who are struggling are being catered for and those who are above average are being challenged to do better,” he says.
“Furthermore, staff now engage in making data-driven decisions to make programs and learning sequences. Lessons are no longer based on ‘one hat – fits all’, each lesson now has differentiated tasks.”
Halai says the syllabus outcome is now achieved through differentiated tasks that are aligned to the student capabilities and learning needs.
“Lessons are delivered through interactive smartboards; hence, teachers have the opportunity to cater for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners,” he says.
“With less focus on textbooks, students now engage more in experiential and inquiry-based learning and have ample opportunities to work in collegial groups using various thinking routines.”
Halai says staff development is highly focused on enhancement of ICT skills through regular professional learning with Microsoft Teams.
“The success stories on Deep Learning from classrooms were shared by the staff as part of professional development, and these presentations were well received by the teachers, and seen as a learning opportunity, and peer appreciation.”
As for what’s next for Minarah College, Halai says the process is in place for changing the learning environment with collaborative learning places for all students.
“The shift is from students just learning the knowledge to authentic application of this knowledge to the wider world. The focus at Minarah College is for teachers to equip students with the tools to navigate their learning process and improve their expertise in developing efficacy,” he explains.
“We will ensure students address meaningful real-world problems and use specific protocols [so that] all voices are heard. Project-based learning will be emphasised to develop key skills such as research, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.”
Halai says the college will also be using appropriate data analysis and interpretation of data to make informed decisions that positively affect student outcomes.
“The proactive stance will enable students to be committed to advocating essential values, reflect and develop critical thinking and communication skills to develop their characters and become valuable and active members of the community.”

DLPA (Dynamic Leadership Program Australia) is a leadership and business development program provider which focuses on unlocking the potential of current and emerging leaders.
Founded in 2016 by Karlie Cremin, DLPA provides specialised learning and development knowledge, and helps cultivate the right environment for your team by ensuring that your structures and processes are robust and easy to follow. It focuses on business sustainability and profitability, recognising that people mixed with a strong work culture are the key drivers of performance.
DLPA won the Silver Medal for Talent Management, Learning & Development at the HRD AuNZ Service Provider Awards 2022.
As well as its leadership development, DLPA is a social enterprise which prides itself on specialising in the “non-people side of the business”. It provides advice on the structural sides of a business, and also offers support and training to individuals to support meaningful, long-term employment. At least 60% of its total profits go back into supporting this cause.
Managing director Karlie Cremin notes that over the past two years, DLPA has particularly focused on the social impact of its activities – and this has had its rewards and challenges.
“When we started focusing on realising social impact, we had no idea how difficult it was going to be helping disadvantaged individuals find meaningful employment pathways,” Cremin says.
