Employee feedback is a gift that helps us understand what’s on their minds and determine what concerns we can address to ensure they feel heard and valued.”
Fidelity Canada’s employee experience can be summarized as “Feel Fidelity”. What makes it a great place to work, belong, and grow is that as a member of its community, employees feel:
valued as an individual
proud of the impact they make
curious about their careers
part of the progress they are making within the organization
Fidelity Canada’s values, behaviours and guiding principles are deeply held beliefs that define the company's culture and govern how they conduct business. Trust and integrity are central, as the firm encourages its people to be empowered and take initiative in decision-making. Fidelity encourages employees to be brave, bold, curious, and compassionate.
Godfrey says, “We believe our culture of listening differentiates Fidelity Canada as a top financial services provider and leading employer. Transparency and ongoing dialogue are integral to the organization, often uncovering opportunities to improve our offering.”
Our people trust us to do the right thing for our clients, for each other, and for the communities in which we operate and live. In 2023, Fidelity Canada and its networks collectively donated $4.6 million to charities that work toward enhancing the following areas of impact:
education
community support
arts/culture
environment
health services
social services
Fidelity’s corporate giving efforts are aligned with its areas of impact. The organization has established the following four pillars to guide its efforts:
Environment: improving the environment for future generations
DE&I: employing equitable and inclusive giving practices
Talent and culture: promoting a culture of giving and volunteerism
Community partner: supporting organizations that enhance community health and social wellbeing
There are five Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which help champion DE&I:
Pride: fostering an equitable and safe work environment for 2SLGBTQ+ employees
Women’s Leadership Group: helping women at Fidelity thrive
Aspire: supporting the Latino and Black communities
Enable: promoting awareness of people’s varying abilities
Elevate: enhancing awareness of Asian culture
The firm also produces a quarterly DE&I newsletter, The Mosaic, that includes welcome messages from senior executives, data on diversity across the firm, columns from the ERGs, upcoming events and more.
Values
Trust: doing the right thing and putting the client first
Integrity: empowering each other to take initiative and make good decisions
Fidelity’s goals for 2024 centre around the theme of building a sustainable future by delighting its clients, improving how the company operates, and building a great place to work.
