“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”

Aman Malhi’s professional journey exemplifies a model of deliberate ambition and purposeful growth.
Rather than leaving her career to chance, the director of people, culture and operations at Refrigerative Supply Limited has charted her path with intention, always seeking roles that would stretch her abilities and broaden her influence.
Malhi built Refrigerative Supply’s people and culture function from scratch, building a team that has shaped the company’s critical business direction rather than staying within the confines of a traditional support role.
“My journey has never been about fitting neatly into one function or one box,” she says. “It has been about stretching into new areas, learning continuously, and building the breadth of experience needed to truly understand how a business works end to end.”
Throughout her career, Malhi has actively sought out challenges that would refine her leadership skills. Her strategic mindset has guided her through numerous changes, whether leading business communications and operations or entering new spaces such as private equity, cannabis, hospitality, insurance, and distribution.
Malhi also invested in her own development, earning the CPHR designation and later an MBA, both of which have shaped her evolution from HR specialist to strategic business leader.
“I don’t wait to be told what to do. Once I am convinced of the best course of action for the business and its people, I move forward and make it happen,” she explains. “What differentiates me is not fearlessness or perfection, but the consistent habit of identifying the right path, committing to it, and delivering results that matter.”
Looking ahead, Malhi aims to utilize the skills and experience she has gathered to eventually step into a CEO role. Not only is this an ambition for herself, but it is also something she hopes to expand across industries, noting the value of business acumen and human skills HR teams deliver to organizations.
“I believe companies need to start viewing CHROs, especially women in these roles, as the natural next candidates for CEO. We understand the human side of the business, which is often the most complex and challenging aspect of leadership,” she explains.
“At the same time, we are deeply involved in strategy, risk management, succession planning, and performance. The ability to balance both the people agenda and the business agenda is precisely what modern organizations need at the very top.”
While Malhi has been empowered by her leadership team at Refrigerative Supply, she recognizes the lack of opportunities afforded to women in HR elsewhere. Leveraging her experience and wisdom, Malhi hopes to inspire the next generation of women looking to follow in her footsteps.
“Ultimately, the structural barriers I’ve encountered have strengthened my resolve to ensure the women who come after me face fewer of them,” she explains. “That means speaking openly about these challenges, mentoring other women, and using my voice at the table to challenge biases when I see them.”
