The past few months have been as disruptive as they have been innovative. The pandemic chaos led to unprecedented change, acting as a catalyst for organizational evolution and tech adoption. From remote working models to overnight digitization, the organizations approach work has shifted dramatically. And, for HR teams, it’s been the most innovative year in
living memory.
“2021 was a year of significant change and growth,” says Kelly Perrow, director, HRIS at CSA Group and winner of HRD’s Most Innovative HR Teams award. “Our HR team continued to innovate by partnering with the business to explore HR technologies that could support the organization’s strategic goals and the needs of our workforce. We prioritized creativity and our entire team collaborated to uncover new ideas, methods, and technologies. Collectively, we remained focused on anticipating the future needs of our people, with our values of continuous learning, sustainability, integrity and mutual respect
top of mind.”
“During this time of uncertainty, CSA Group took significant care to ensure our workforce remained engaged and informed,” says Perrow. “Through thoughtful communication coupled with meaningful benefits and wellness programs, we tried to directly address some of the challenges facing our employees. With a large majority of our employees working from home last year, we worked hard to ensure that they were well equipped to succeed. We regularly checked in on their mental and physical safety and well-being. As we look ahead to 2022 and a new ‘normal’, we’ll be challenged with creating a work environment that is flexible, equitable and compelling.”
Looking ahead to the rest of 2022 and beyond, the sky’s the limit for HR. In terms of technology and the innovation born out of it, there’s no knowing what exciting developments could come to fruition in the not-so-distant future. CSA Group is keen to embrace whatever digitization comes their way.
“CSA Group’s human resources information systems team will continue to embrace HR technology and expand our agile, digital HR platform with dynamic analytics to support smarter, faster decision making,” Perrow says. “Industry-wide, I think we’ll continue to see a heightened focus on fairness and equity, including delivering on diversity, equity and inclusion commitments. Moreover, strategic workforce planning and talent management including matching internal talent to new opportunities based on their skills are trends that we anticipate this year.”
CSA Group is a global organization dedicated to safety, social good and sustainability. It is a leader in standards development and in testing inspection and certification around the world, including Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. The organization’s mandate is to hold the future to a
higher standard.
