Bharath Nangia is the president and chief innovation catalyst of NPX, a nuclear innovation start-up company that is working to make nuclear energy even more sustainable, safer, affordable, and faster. Bharath has a master’s degree in nuclear engineering and over 10 years of experience in the nuclear power generation industry, with focused leadership experience at Bruce Power and OPG sites in the areas of nuclear refurbishment; environmental qualification; engineering change control; execution of engineering, procurement and construction projects; outages; and project management. He has worked in many roles within the industry, from engineering for Bruce 1 & 2 Restart and vice president of nuclear projects, to founder of NPX. He is a passionate advocate for nuclear power and other forms of renewable energy.

Margaret McBeath is a co-founder and director, company strategy/people and culture, at NPX. She started her career in human resources and in the nuclear industry in 2009 and has progressed as an entrepreneur, industry leader, and HR executive. Margaret has worked in all areas of HR and has led innovative HR programs and initiatives focused on talent development, training, DE&I, organizational development, and employee health and well-being.
In 2015, her work on new graduate training and development programs was recognized by the Canadian HR Awards. Her company at the time, Amec Foster Wheeler, won the The University of Waterloo Award for Next Generation Employment Innovation. She was selected as HR Leader of the Year in 2021.

Gregg Stewart has 20 years of experience in research, engineering and project delivery, including 15 years in the nuclear industry. Key projects in the nuclear industry include management and execution of design engineering, large-scale EPC and EPCM projects, execution of integrity and fitness-for-service analysis and assessments in support of safe operation of CANDU power plants, and project management of multi-disciplinary analysis and engineering projects.
A licensed professional engineer in Ontario, he led the on-site operations for a major engineering vendor at Bruce Power’s facility, and was responsible for executing design engineering, field engineering, safety, operations and refurbishment initiatives. Previous roles included a secondment to Bruce Power as project manager for large (>$100 million) EPC/EPCM projects for Bruce A Restart.

Over the past 11 years, Steve has led and supported engineering, construction, and commissioning projects on major refurbishment campaigns, including the Bruce MCR, Bruce A U1 & 2 Restart, and Darlington refurbishment projects. Steve has managed projects integral to the Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) program, including critical path projects as part of the Darlington U2 RFR execution team. He currently manages the Bruce MCR U3 Innovation Program and has led the development of opportunities that save Bruce MCR U3 approximately $120 million over the execution phase. Steve holds a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute and has education in lean process improvement.

Chris McDonald joined Markel Canada in October 2018 as a senior underwriter, bringing over 15 years of underwriting experience to his role. Since then, he has progressed to his current role of AVP, professional liability, managing a national team and providing council and mentorship to the entire PFR team. Chris has a deep and technical understanding of professional and management liability and has both underwritten and helped develop products in emerging industries, including cyber and fintech.
Prior to his role at Markel, Chris had a lengthy career with Encon (now Victor) where his roles progressed from underwriting to managing various divisions within their professional and management risks department. He brings an incredible skillset to his role and is well-versed in underwriting complex risks. A team player, Chris is generous with helping develop his team and brings positivity to all of his endeavors both internally and with Markel’s national broker networks. His certifications include RIBO, CRM and RPLU.
