Celena Harry proudly serves as the chief people officer at Mitre 10 (New Zealand), where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the organisational culture and spearheading leadership initiatives. Her responsibilities encompass core human resources functions as well as internal communication, health, safety and wellbeing and the implementation of people technology systems. With over 25 years of experience, she has a rich background in large-scale transformations, enhancing employee and customer experiences and fostering culture and organisational change.
As the executive sponsor for digital people experience, Celena ensures collaboration across teams to deliver tailored technology solutions that empower all Mitre 10 team members, improving access to the information needed to create exceptional customer experiences. She is also a co-sponsor of Programme ONE, Mitre 10’s transformative initiative aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
Celena leads a highly capable and effective team that provides expert advice and services to the Mitre 10 cooperative. Together they have modernised and humanised HR practices and technology, improved critical risk management, improved internal communication and delivered world-class leadership programmes tailored to retail and Mitre 10's ambition to be an irresistible workplace.
Celena’s journey in retail began as a salesperson while she was still studying, and her passion for the industry has only grown since then. Prior to her role at Mitre 10, she held leadership positions focused on employee experience, customer experience and mental health and wellbeing programs. An experienced coach, Celena is dedicated to helping individuals and teams unlock their full potential. She is proud to be part of the Mitre 10 team as they continue to equip, inspire and support Kiwi DIYers and tradies, solidifying its position as New Zealand’s largest home improvement and garden retailer for over 50 years.
