For young women entering the human resources industry, it is difficult to find a more exemplary role model than Geetha Mukunnan, Director, Operations at Service Connections HR Consultancy.
Her empathetic nature, dedication to self-improvement and conviction of what’s right and wrong has consistently driven success – both social and financial – at Service Connections and beyond.
Developing Service Connections into a highly respected force in the HR recruitment industry has given Geetha a colossal sense of pride.
“Being seen, respected, and taken seriously in the HR field has been a defining moment and it continues to motivate me to push boundaries and champion excellence in everything we do,” she says.
With a relentless yet meticulous mentality, Geetha is always finding creative solutions to the wide variety of obstacles she faces in her role.
“Persistency is what drives me through challenges, whether it’s navigating regulatory changes, negotiating fair terms, or advocating for inclusive hiring practices,” she notes. “I don’t give up easily. I believe in finding solutions even when the path is not straightforward.”
While women are frequently represented within organizations, Geetha notes that their representation often diminishes in executive roles. To reverse this reality, she passionately advocates for the leaders to recognize unconscious bias and introduce gender-equity initiatives such as:
• unbiased talent identification • transparent promotion criteria • proactive mentorship programs specifically designed for women
Always seeing the potential of team members, Geetha relishes the opportunity to develop individual skills that benefit the collective. This mentality is grounded through her exceptional communication skills, allowing her to connect with those around her in an empathetic and respectful manner.
“I believe that every team member brings something unique to the table, and it’s my responsibility as a leader to recognise those strengths and create space for them to shine,” she says. “At the same time, I see weaknesses not as limitations, but as opportunities for development. With the right support and mindset, they can be transformed into new capabilities.”
Believing that actions speak louder than words, Geetha hopes to inspire other women to break the shackles of traditional gender roles to reach their potential.
“I want to see a community where women actively support and uplift each other, breaking down barriers together rather than competing in isolation,” she explains. “When women collaborate, share knowledge, and mentor one another, we climb higher and faster, creating lasting change that benefits all.”
Developing sustainability initiatives is an essential next step for Geetha and Service Connections. Rather than viewing this as a box-ticking exercise, she regards environmental responsibility as a crucial piece of the puzzle to the firm’s dedication as a leader in addressing social issues.
“Looking ahead, our pursuit of sustainability marks and the Green Mark is not just about environmental compliance; it’s about aligning our business with broader societal goals,” she says. “We want to be known not only for our recruitment excellence but for our integrity, inclusivity, and long-term vision.”
