TPG Telecom operates one of Australia’s largest telecommunications networks with a challenger mindset that gives employees room to act and deliver outcomes at scale. That combination underpins its recognition as one of Human Resources Director’s 5-Star Employers of Choice 2026, with impact expected across every level of the business.
Employees are encouraged to question how work gets done, challenge complexity and take part in improving outcomes for customers. The company describes its culture as people focused, where teams rally together in service of customers while keeping things simple.
Across its network and brands, that approach translates into flexibility in how customers are served. Growth in mobile, an expanding 5G footprint and a multi-brand model allow TPG Telecom to meet a range of needs, from full-service connectivity to digital-first options.
A regional network-sharing agreement with Optus has extended coverage across Australia in a more efficient way, improving reliability for customers outside major cities and enabling employees to deliver outcomes in areas that were previously underserved.
“We will keep investing in diverse talent pipelines, equitable development opportunities and the systems that help reduce barriers and support meaningful representation across all levels”

“We will continue to strengthen our service proposition and customer experience as a key differentiator, as we build on the momentum we have achieved to date across multiple business lines and territories,” says McLean. “Our im is to continue to grow our market relevance and strengthen our partnerships with our strategic brokers as we expand our leadership position in key sectors.
“We will also continue to invest in talent. We are committed to drawing from the broadest pools of talent, and to creating an environment that attracts and retains stellar employees. We recognise the importance of building teams that are diverse, collaborative, and innovative and are dedicated to cultivating a supportive and inclusive workplace culture in which all our employees can thrive.”
Direction and capability are set at the executive level, while leaders across the business regularly coach and support flexible work and remove obstacles that slow teams down. Inclusive team environments are part of that expectation, with leaders encouraging people to contribute ideas and bring different perspectives.
Expanding the mobile network, particularly in regional Australia, has been a central focus, supported by approaches such as network sharing that extend coverage faster and more efficiently. As that work has progressed, attention has also turned to how customers are supported when needs are more complex.
“One example is piloting non-commission-based roles in retail stores, designed to support customers experiencing vulnerability, such as domestic and family violence or financial hardship,” says spokesperson name and title.
This focus has also led to initiatives such as a flood sensing project with the University of Technology Sydney, where network data is used to support community resilience during extreme weather events, extending the role employees play beyond core services.

Recruitment is aligned to future capability, with a focus on areas such as 5G and network engineering, cybersecurity, data analytics, digital product and customer experience. Data and market insights are used to guide hiring decisions, supported by a process designed to be faster, more transparent and consistent.
Learning and development are built into everyday work, evidenced by leadership programs that combine practical skill building, strengths-based development and targeted coaching, with an emphasis on helping leaders use their strengths and support the growth of others.
Policies reinforce employee experience in practical ways. Summer Fridays allow most employees to finish early during the summer months, while an updated parental leave policy has increased uptake among male employees and supported shared caregiving. Diversity, equity and inclusion are supported through training, accessible resources and tools that help leaders embed inclusive practices within teams.
“A key priority is building a workforce that reflects and represents the diversity of our customers. We will keep investing in diverse talent pipelines, equitable development opportunities and the systems that help reduce barriers and support meaningful representation across all levels,” adds Vanessa.
