Iñaki Berroeta is the CEO and managing director of TPG Telecom and was CEO of Vodafone Hutchison Australia from 2014 to 2020. A 30-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, he previously served as CEO of both Vodafone Romania and Vodafone Malta, and held various operational roles at Vodafone Spain, Global Star USA, AirTouch International (USA) and Airtile Moviles (Spain).
Berroeta holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications from Bilbao Superior School of Telecommunications Engineering, Spain, and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Management College, UK. His appointment to the Board commenced on 29 June 2020.

Iñaki Berroeta
John Boniciolli joined TPG Telecom as chief financial officer in November 2023. He has extensive telecommunications sector and finance leadership experience, most recently as CFO at Vodafone New Zealand under financial investor ownership.
Before his tenure at Vodafone, Boniciolli held senior executive positions at Telstra across product management, sales and service, segment commercials, transformation, procurement and supply chain, mergers and acquisitions, as well as finance. He was previously the CFO at the Australian property marketplace Domain and spent his early career at Lend Lease and EY.
Boniciolli holds an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management, a Bachelor of Commerce from UNSW, and is a Chartered Accountant.

Giovanni Chiarelli joined TPG Telecom in January 2022 and leads the Networks, Fibre Operations, Digital and IT teams. Giovanni joined us from MTN South Africa, where he was Chief Technology & Information Officer responsible for leading the end-to-end Technology for the organisation, including Networks, IT & Enterprise Services. He previously worked at Vodafone Romania as Chief Technology Officer and Vodafone Group, leading Global IT solutions, and prior to that Telecom Italia as Chief Information Officer. In 2019, Giovanni won the Global CTO of the Year award, acknowledging him as one of the most prominent leaders of technology-based growth.

Kieren Cooney joined TPG Telecom in March 2021 and leads the commercial strategy for consumer across the company’s portfolio of brands. He was most recently at Foxtel Group, where he was chief customer, marketing and sales officer. He was previously chief marketing and content officer at REA Group, and held senior roles at Omnicom and Leading Edge.
Cooney has extensive corporate experience across the media, digital and telecommunications sectors in Australia and New Zealand, including Vodafone New Zealand and NBN Co.

Jonathan Rutherford was appointed group executive, enterprise and government in July 2021. He has responsibility for driving growth in the enterprise, business and government segments.
Rutherford joined TPG Telecom from Vodafone Czech Republic, where he served as vice president, B2B. He previously worked at Vodafone Ireland and Vodafone UK in senior enterprise and commercial roles, and prior to that was a network engineer at 3. He holds Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees.

Vanessa Hicks was appointed TPG Telecom’s group executive customer and people experience in February 2024, after four years as group executive, people experience. She was previously Vodafone Hutchison Australia’s director of human resources, having joined the company in 2006. Hicks has served in several senior roles within the company, including general manager of business customer operations and general manager of human resources.
She is responsible for all HR functions, including organisational culture, leadership programs and occupational health and safety. She is also responsible for the company’s customer service, including customer service strategy, customer experience, contact centre operations, billing, credit, collections and logistics, and customer lifecycle management.
Hicks served as chairperson of the Vodafone Foundation from 2010 to 2014 and remains an active member of the Vodafone Foundation Board. She has served as an advisory board member of the Telco Together Foundation since 2017.
Prior to Vodafone Hutchison Australia, Hicks was a director at First Choice Solutions and the National Contact Centre Manager for ING. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Trent Czinner was appointed group executive, legal and external affairs at TPG Telecom in August 2020. He was previously Vodafone Hutchison Australia’s general counsel and company secretary from 2013 to 2020.
Czinner has worked as a telecoms and technology lawyer since 1998. From 2011 to 2013, he ran the legal function for Salesforce.com in Australia and New Zealand.
He has a Bachelor of Law and Administration from The University of Newcastle, was admitted as a solicitor in NSW in 1995 and has a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management. He is a certificated member of the Governance Institute of Australia.

Continued offering 22 weeks of paid parental leave to parents and carers. The policy’s first full year resulted in a 55% increase YoY in men accessing paid parental leave.
Progressing its innovative Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), including establishing First Nations External Advisory Circle, Engagement Principles, Procurement Strategy, and 7 Steps to Practical Reconciliation learning module.
Career development is also a crucial part of TPG Telecom’s offering, delivered through a series of personalised training programs, which foster a learning culture. These are available in multiple formats including online courses, in-person workshops and hybrid models.

In 2024, TPG focused on developing mid-level female leaders and individual contributors through two female development programs, Women in Leadership and Xplore.
